10 common mistakes with which you destroy the skin of the palms

Updated: Oct 4, 2022

You don't put sunscreen on your hands, you use soaps that dry your skin, and you neglect nail care.

We are sure that you take excellent care of your facial skin, but we are also sure that

you often neglect your palms.

Did you know that palms are perhaps the biggest indicator of age? And if you don't take care of them properly, they can look "older".

However, the hands are the part of the body that we use the most, so it is important to take care of them.

What are the most common mistakes that ruin your palms?

Do not apply cream at night

If you're like most, you probably put on hand cream when you notice your skin is dry.

This is perfectly fine, but it is important to apply the cream in the evening, before going to bed, especially in the winter months when the skin dries out much more.

If you have very dry hands, you can also apply a very oily cream,

even Vaseline, and go to bed with gloves on.

Cut the cuticles

When you cut your cuticles, chances are you'll cut yourself a cut. This wound will not only be painful, but will also increase the risk of various infections.

Do not forget that we use our hands all the time, which means that there are many bacteria on them. And when you have a wound on them, bacteria can easily get inside.

Instead of cutting them, use a wooden or metal stick to just push the cuticles inward.

Do not apply SPF cream

The sun's rays can also cause damage to the skin of the palms.

If you don't apply an SPF cream, you will speed up the aging process and increase the risk of spots.

Do not wear gloves when cleaning

Harsh chemicals in cleaning products are harmful to the skin. In fact, on most of the packaging of these products, it is emphasized not to use them without gloves.

It is recommended to wear gloves when washing dishes.

You neglect nail care

There's no need to put artificial nails on or paint yours if you don't want to. But you should not completely neglect your nails as they have a huge impact on the appearance of your palms.

You use very strong soaps

If you notice that your skin is very dry after washing your hands, it is best to change the soap you are using.

It is recommended to use soap with moisturizing properties and try to apply hand cream after almost every wash.

Do not exfoliate the skin

Exfoliation can also do wonders for the skin of the palms.

You can easily make an exfoliation at home - mix sugar, lemon or lime and olive or coconut oil and rub your palms well with the mixture.

Then just rinse with water and finally apply a moisturizer.

It is enough to do this peeling once or twice a week.

Wash your hands with very hot water

You probably already know that hot water dries out the skin, and this also applies to the skin on the hands.

You are using the nail file wrong

Improper use of the file can damage the nails, thereby worsening the appearance of your palms.

You should not scrape your nails from left to right as this makes them prone to cracking. Instead, scrape them in one direction only.

You don't pay attention to your diet

A healthy diet is important not only for health, but also for the appearance of the whole body.

Well, try making changes to your diet and eat more fruits and vegetables, as well as foods rich in vitamin C and E and omega 3 fatty acids.
